Recovering from a slip and fall

Once you are on the road to recovery, and have started a lawsuit through a lawyer’s office, things are underway. The legal process can be a stressful time for you and your family. You should remember to maintain regular contact with your lawyer and their staff. Make absolutely certain you listen to every instruction your lawyer provides you. If possible, see if there is a paralegal or law clerk with whom you can maintain regular contact. The lawyer and their staff are qualified to answer any questions you have about your lawsuit and the legal process in general, should your matter end up going to court. Remember that the lawyer and their office staff are going to invest a great deal of time and resources in your case. The lawyer wants to see a positive outcome for you not only so that you can get the money you deserve, but also so they can get paid their fees, whether they are on a contingency agreement or not.

Remember to follow the medical advice of your family physician and any other health care provider. Some of the other providers you might have to see are physiotherapists, massage therapists, a chiropractor or even an orthopaedic surgeon. Ensure timely arrival to all of your appointments and document the progress of your recovery. You should keep a personal journal concerning all the time you and your family spend as a result of the accident, all the medication you take, all the pain that you are suffering.

Recovering from a slip and fall might be a long process depending on the injuries you have suffered. Following your doctor’s orders is paramount as you will want the recovery process to be as quick as possible.  The recovery time can also put significant stress on your family. Just like a person recovering from an injury, you must have patience as the recovery and legal process continue to evolve.
